MARENGO, OHIO: Authorities say an off-duty Columbus police officer hit a suspect’s car when a man pulled a gun on the officer during a road rage altercation.
The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office says the altercation happened Sunday afternoon in Marengo, about 30 miles northeast of Columbus.
The officer told dispatchers he was towing a trailer when he waved on a pickup that began tailgating him.
The officer says the pickup then blocked his vehicle and the driver came out with a gun and pointed it at him.
The officer says his trailer began to jackknife as he tried backing up, so he drove toward the pickup and hit the door as the suspect was getting in. The suspect then fled into the woods.
Authorities say the suspect has been arrested.
