The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an inmate who escaped from Glenwood Jail on Friday in Akron.
Jason Shockley, 26, of Akron, was still on the loose as of Tuesday evening.
“This is not a violent fugitive,” Sheriff Steve Barry said.
“We are doing everything we can to apprehend this suspect,” he added.
Shockley and another inmate each posed as a trusty — or prisoner given special privileges for good behavior — Friday afternoon and carried trays out to a van in the jail parking lot. When they got to the van, they ran away toward Howard Street.
One inmate, Daniel Perkins, 24, of Akron, was found and arrested and charged with escape.
Shockley is a white male with close-cropped hair and distinctively styled eyebrows. He was sent to Glenwood Jail after being charged with breaking and entering, safe cracking and grand theft, according to court records.
Perkins was charged with receiving stolen property and theft and now an additional charge of escape. He has a court appearance on Sept. 7 before Summit County Common Pleas Magistrate Kandi O’Connor.
Authorities are in the process of reviewing procedures at the jail because of the escape, Barry said.
