CLEVELAND: Authorities say a Cleveland police officer on a motorcycle suffered injuries after he was sideswiped by a van.
Police Chief Calvin Williams tells The Plain Dealer that the officer suffered minor injuries to his hand and leg after the crash around 8 p.m. Sunday outside of the city’s Justice Center. He is being treated at a hospital.
Police say a large white van that appeared to be turning out of a downtown hotel struck the motorcycle, leaving it on its side about 20 feet away.
Williams says the accident was caused by “someone not paying attention.”
An investigation is continuing.
