FARGO, N.D.: Zach Larue didn’t become an All-American on Sunday at the Cadet Greco Nationals in Fargo, N.D., but the sophomore served notice.

A state placer for Manchester in March, Larue knocked off top-seeded returning All-American Gavin Stockwell of Oregon by technical fall to open action at 113 pounds, but fell in his next match. He stuck around until the fifth round of consolation before Colorado state champion Andrew Lucero beat him 15-4.

The brackets weren’t kind to Tuslaw’s Kyle Ryder and Steven Skeens. Both wrestled 145 and couldn’t find their way out of the first session, but were able to win a match.

Ryder fell in the opener to top-seeded Dalton Jensen of Illinois, beat Colorado’s Preston Renner, but lost to returning All-American Logan Jensen of Utah.

Skeens picked up a win over Iowa’s Max Mashek, but lost by technical fall to Minnesota’s Dylan Fudge and Georgia state champion Isaiah Gadesen.
