Cuyahoga Valley National Park seeking identity of gunshot victim found in Peninsula

The National Park Service is asking for help identifying a teenage girl who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park rangers received the report of the assault victim found within park boundaries in Peninsula at 9:21 a.m. Sunday.

The victim is African-American, about 18 years old, weighing 110-120 pounds and about 5 feet 5 inches tall.

She was wearing light-blue jean shorts that were cutoffs made from a men’s 32x30 Hollister skinny jeans, a plain pink tank top, a plain khaki belt and white Nike tennis shoes.

She is unable to communicate with investigators and is being treated at a local hospital, park officials said.

The National Park Service is leading the ongoing investigation with assistance from the FBI. People with information should call the Cuyahoga Valley National Park tip line at 440-546-5945.

The national park encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron and is managed by the National Park Service.
