Akron and University of Akron police are investigating an attempted assault that occurred just before 5:40 a.m. Friday near Exchange Street and Kathryn Place.
A UA student who was walking to her campus job reported that a man approached her asking for directions and then grabbed her arm, threatened to rape her and exposed himself, authorities said.
The victim, who was not identified, punched the suspect in the face and ran to a campus facility and called 911. She was unharmed.
The suspect was described as a skinny black male standing 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8, wearing a dirty navy shirt and having large lips.
