Thieves cut a hole in the roof of an Akron pizza shop so they could break in and steal money from a safe Tuesday morning, according to police reports.
The owner of the East Akron restaurant told police he arrived to open the shop and found the back door ajar. He said the hole was not there when he left the night before. Police reported they believe thieves entered through the roof, broke a safe and left through the back door with about $100.
The shop’s owner declined to comment.
The incident occurred in the 700 block of East Archwood Avenue between 1:30 and 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Akron police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to notify detectives by calling 330-375-2490.
