A Brunswick man was arrested Friday after police found more than 20 pounds of brownies thought to be laced with marijuana after conducting a search warrant at his apartment.
James Hirsch, 45, is charged with marijuana trafficking, a fourth-degree felony. Hirsch lived at the Stoneybrook Lane apartment. A 17-year-old girl also was present in the apartment, but was not charged immediately with any crimes. She was released to her parents.
The Medina County Drug Task Force reported agents also confiscated several ounces of what is believed to be THC extract. THC is the chemical in pot that causes the characteristic high.
Additional charges are expected to be filed in the case.
Task force Director Gary Hubbard said extracting THC from marijuana can result in explosions or fires.
“While no evidence was found indicating that Hirsch was actively involved in this extraction process, the quantity of THC-infused baked goods found in the apartment is of concern,” Hubbard said in a news release. “This is especially true when being done in an apartment building such as this.”
