A Cleveland police officer had his service gun and personal vehicle stolen from the parking lot of an Akron night club early Tuesday morning, according to police reports.

Officer Howard Hart III, 27, told Akron police he had his keys stolen from him while he was at the Interbelt Nite Club, 70 N. Howard St. He went out to the parking lot at 2:30 a.m. to find that his vehicle, a 2011 Ford Fusion with license plate GFZ4837, was missing.

Hart, who police noted had slurred speech, reported his service handgun, a fully loaded Glock 19, was under the driver’s seat. The gun has “CLVLND OHPD” engraved on its side, police said.

According to reports, a number of people are listed as possible suspects, including a drag queen.

Published reports indicate Hart was among 28 officers who joined the Cleveland police force in October.

A Cleveland police spokesperson could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information should call Akron police at 330-375-2490.
