Two former officials of the Barberton Youth Football League are charged with stealing more than $3,800 over two years, according to cleveland.com.
Mark Sager, 38, and his wife, Rachel Sager, are both charged with felony theft and appeared in court on Monday. They were released on bond.
The thefts occurred in 2013 and 2014 but came to the attention of the league’s new officers last fall.
Rachel Sager told league officials that she stole $1,700. She struck a deal to repay the money in installments and not face charges. She repaid the money, but league officials found that an additional $3,874 was missing after an audit was completed.
The couple, who had served as league president and treasurer, told police they used the money to pay household bills.
