An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was injured Saturday after a motorist dragged him 50 feet during a traffic stop in Portage County’s Atwater Township.
Sgt. Jeffery Greene was treated and released and an arrest warrant has been issued for the driver, the patrol’s Ravenna post said in a news release.
The incident happened at 7:24 p.m. on state Route 225, just north of the Stark County line, when Greene initiated a traffic stop.
As Greene was talking to the driver, the driver started the engine of his vehicle and pulled away, dragging Greene.
Greene returned to his patrol vehicle and pursued the car for about six miles before terminating the chase.
The incident remains under investigation.
