A 50-year-old Akron man was sentenced to 12 years in prison Tuesday for making and possessing methamphetamine.
Robert Kolvek was convicted by a jury in Summit County Common Pleas Court in December of one count each of illegal manufacture of drugs and aggravated possession of drugs, and two counts of illegal assembly of possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.
Judge Tom Parker sentenced Kolvek to 12 years, the mandatory time for the convictions.
Akron police responded to a complaint at an Archwood Avenue home in April 2015 and found the ingredients for a meth lab in the home and in a vehicle in the garage. Officers determined Kolvek’s girlfriend lives at the home. Kolvek wasn’t there at the time, according to a news release from the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.
While at the Archwood home, officers were alerted to another meth lab at Kolvek’s home on Stanley Road in Akron. Police discovered additional material used to make meth in the home.
The following month, Cuyahoga Falls police received an alert that Kolvek was attempting to buy pseudoephedrine, a key ingredient in making meth. Kolvek was then arrested, according to the news release.
