A costly morning fire at a Jackson Township business on Tuesday is under investigation by inspectors.
Fire Chief Tracy Hogue said it took firefighters about 2½ hours to get the flames under control after the fire was reported at 8:51 a.m. The fire damaged Tristan Rubber Molding Inc., 6196 Dressler Road NW.
Hogue said fire crews worked at the building all day to ensure the blaze would not reignite.
He said investigators expect to rule on the fire’s cause by the end of the week.
“We have three of our fire investigators looking into the fire,” he said, explaining that inspectors will interview the 20 or so workers, none of whom were injured. “It’ll probably be closer to the end of the week before we have any confident information about the cause of the fire.”
Hogue said there was no estimate on the amount of damage caused by the fire.
“It’s going to be a large loss,” he said. “We have no idea how much any of the manufacturing machines cost, so we’re bringing in an insurance investigator tomorrow.”
Jackson Township firefighters were aided by the Plain and Green fire departments.
