Authorities are investigating human remains that were found Friday in South Akron.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Akron 911 dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting the discovery of a skull on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of Marcy Street.
Akron police and fire crews responded to the scene, and the remains were located and recovered by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A forensic anthropologist with the medical examiner’s office will process the scene Saturday during daylight hours, according to an Akron police news release. The scene was being secured by officers throughout the night.
