A 22-year-old man was arrested late Thursday by Orrville police in connection with a fatal shooting.
Arrested was LaReece KeSean “Wally” Woods.
Dead is Emily Young, 24, with whom Woods had two small children, police said.
The shooting occurred at 6:53 p.m. in a 2013 Kia sports utility vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Paradise Street, police said.
Young, who was shot while in the driver’s seat, was transported by ambulance to Aultman-Orrville Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police said Young and Woods were talking and at the conclusion of the talk Woods shot Young multiple times at close range.
An eyewitness to the shooting, not identified by police, was in the front passenger seat and the couple’s two children were in the back seat, police said.
Woods was interviewed by police and confessed to the shooting, police said.
The weapon was later recovered.
Woods was arrested and transported to the Wayne County Jail.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted Orrville police.
