AKRON: Detectives are investigating after a 19-year-old woman was wounded by a stray bullet fired into a West Akron home. The woman was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital after being struck in the face by the gunshot in the 900 block of Dover Avenue. Police said her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
Officers responding to a report of shots fired at the residence about 8 p.m. Monday observed the front-door glass shattered and bullet holes in the door and house. A man approached the officers and reported that a bullet hit the woman, but a friend was already transporting her to the hospital.
Detectives are following up on information on a possible suspect.
