The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles Deputy Registrar agency at 3039 Graham Road in Stow closed without notice Monday with hopes it will reopen.

The deputy registrar at the location resigned on Monday morning, BMW spokeswoman Lindsey Bohrer said. Until a new person is named, the office must remain closed.

Bohrer did not provide a reason when asked about the resignation.

“We were given his resignation letter this morning, and since a [deputy registrar] agency cannot operate without a deputy registrar, we were forced to close immediately on short notice, but we are working to reopen the location as soon possible,” she said in an email.

The office at Fishcreek and Graham roads had a deputy registrar and eight employees.

The state contracts with deputy registrars to run independent offices that provide drivers licenses, permits, titles and other services at locations throughout Ohio.

“It will be up to the new deputy registrar on what will happen to those employees. [Deputy registrars] are contracted employees and so the employees work for whoever operates that particular location,” Bohrer said.

The bureau provided the following alternate agencies in the area:
