The Tuslaw boys basketball team entered the first week in 2016 with a 10-0 record.
Fairless was Tuslaw’s latest opponent to leave disappointed following a 59-36 Mustangs victory Wednesday. Senior Harley Snyder led the host Mustangs with 19 points.
Seniors Mark Meyer (12 points), John Carroll (11 points) and Blaine Hewitt (10 points) also scored in double figures in Tuslaw’s win to close out 2015.
Tuslaw topped Columbus Africentric 53-50 in overtime on Tuesday in the First Federal Holiday Showcase at Berlin Hiland. Carroll scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs. Meyer scored 12 points, senior Thomas Litman added in eight points and senior Mason Karn scored seven points.
Tuslaw coach Kevin Lower has a team with six players between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-11 — Carroll (6-11), Meyer (6-7), senior Jake Wake (6-7), Litman (6-5), sophomore Austin Patterson (6-4) and Snyder (6-2).
Tuslaw visits Tusky Valley for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off Tuesday.
Devin West wrestles on
Buchtel sophomore wrestler Devin West placed first at 132 pounds in the recent Men of Steel Canton Tournament.
West’s title is his second in a row at the event after taking first a year ago at 126 pounds. He is an honors student and a captain on the Griffins wrestling team.
Wildcats on march
Jarad Dunn and Zeddie Pollock are continuing to make a smooth transition from football to basketball at Mogadore. The two led the Wildcats to a 60-42 win Wednesday over Hubbard in an event at Tallmadge.
Dunn scored 16 points and Pollock contributed 13 points for Mogadore (5-1), which led 32-15 at halftime.

• Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy earned a 56-38 girls basketball win over Indian Valley on Wednesday with 22 points from Jada Wright.
