CLEVELAND: LeBron James has plenty of experience wearing Indians jerseys. Now he might soon have to wear a Chicago Cubs jersey. And pants and socks, too.
Hometown pride is on the line between James and his close friend Dwyane Wade, a Chicago native. The two former teammates have finalized their World Series bet, which Wade thought up. The loser must wear the full baseball uniform of the winning team to the arena the next time the Cavs and Bulls play each other.
So if the Indians beat the Cubs, Wade must wear a full Indians uniform when the Bulls come to Cleveland on Jan. 4. If the Indians lose, James must wear a full Cubs uniform when the Cavs play at Chicago on Dec. 2. James said Tuesday he wasn’t sure yet which Tribe player’s jersey he’ll make Wade wear.
“We’ll figure it out,” he said.
James has made similar bets with other athletes in the past. He lost a wine bet to Warriors forward Draymond Green, a Michigan State alum, when the Spartans beat Ohio State last year in football.
A number of Cavs players were expected to attend Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday. The series shifts to Chicago for Game 3 on Friday.
