A Summit County judge is recovering after recently falling 30 feet while running on a trail at Hampton Hills Metro Park in Akron.

Domestic Relations Court Judge John Quinn lost his balance and fell, breaking multiple bones. He is expected to make a full recovery, said Sue Tucker, the court’s community outreach director.

“He is doing great,” Tucker said.

Quinn has been hospitalized and will move to an inpatient facility for intensive physical therapy. He is expected to return to work by the end of October.

For now, fellow domestic court Judge Carol Dezso is signing Quinn’s orders, while a visiting judge handles his caseload, Tucker said.

Quinn was re-elected to his third, full term in November 2014, beating back a serious challenge from Akron Municipal Court Judge Katarina Cook.

Cook is running in the Nov. 8 election against domestic court Magistrate Ron Cable to replace Dezso, who is retiring.
