Browns analysis: Nate Ulrich breaks down 25-20 loss to Ravens

What went right: The Browns scored touchdowns on each of their first three possessions, and two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden intercepted two passes from Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, once in the opening quarter and again in the third.

What went wrong: Browns quarterback Josh McCown suffered a left (non-throwing) shoulder injury in the first quarter and, although he didn’t miss a snap, everything unraveled from there despite the 20-0 lead. Could the Browns have worse luck at quarterback? It’s like a sick, twisted joke. After the game, McCown sure didn’t look like someone healthy enough to play next week on the road against the Miami Dolphins.

The bottom line: McCown is the toughest quarterback I’ve seen, and the crucial taunting penalty called on wide receiver Terrelle Pryor in the waning moments was weak. But the lesson is simple for the young Browns: You can’t go scoreless in three quarters and expect to win in the NFL.
