Reward raised to $10,000 for arrest of Akron slaying suspect

A reward of up to $10,000 is now being offered to anyone who identifies the person who killed an Akron teen more than two years ago.

The family of slain teenager Tyler Anderson and Summit County Crime Stoppers announced the increased reward on Tuesday.

Police say the reward winner does not need to testify in court and can remain anonymous. The reward, which is being offered by Crime Stoppers and Tyler’s family, is for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for the death of Anderson.

Police previously released surveillance video of a “person of interest” in the homicide.

The video can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIDEXf4OUQw.

Tyler had just turned 17 when he was last seen getting inside a car on Kenmore Boulevard about 3 p.m. May 17, 2012. His body was later found on 21st Street Southwest. He died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Information may be provided anonymously by calling Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-COPS(2677) or by texting TIPSCO plus the tip to 274637.

Akron police detectives can be reached at 330-375-2490.
