Sixty-four high school seniors from the Akron area are among 16,000 students nationwide named National Merit semifinalists on Wednesday.
The program, in its 62nd year, puts the students in competition for about $33 million in scholarships. The semifinalists were chosen from among students who took the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
