NORTON: A fund has been set up for the family of Kyle Richmond, the 16-year-old Norton High School sophomore who died Wednesday after being struck by a school bus.
The “Kyle Richmond Memorial — Norton Student Gone Too Soon” fund was started Thursday after the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office released the teen’s name. Donations can be made at https://www.youcaring.com/liz-freels-648704.
Officials said the Barberton teen fell from his skate board and was struck by the bus in a school driveway in the 3100 block of Greenwich Road near Norton Cornerstone Elementary School. He suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Wednesday, witnesses said they saw the boy trip and fall off a RipStik — a two-wheeled skateboard — he was riding and landed under the bus. The bus was reportedly filled with middle school students.
The crash is currently under investigation.
