Authorities are continuing to investigate a fatal crash involving a military vehicle over the weekend on state Route 14 in Ravenna Township.

Trooper Lydia Jordan, with the Ravenna post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, said no charges had been filed but the crash remains under investigation.

The driver in the case, Jeremy Taylor, 20, of University Heights, was reportedly driving a military Humvee owned by the Ohio National Guard.

Investigators reported Taylor, a private first-class with the 1st Batallion of the 145th Armored Regiment stationed in Alliance, drove left of center at about 6 p.m. Saturday.

He sideswiped a northwest-bound 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser before striking a 2015 Kia sedan head-on, according to the Highway Patrol.

The Kia’s driver, Bryan Bargar, 34, and his 6-year-old passenger, Wyatt Bentley, were pronounced dead on scene. The PT Cruiser’s driver, a 48-year-old Ravenna woman, received non-life threatening injuries.

Friends of Bargar’s posted their condolences on his Facebook profile page this weekend.

“Bryan we were just laughing at work together the other day,” one friend wrote. “I can’t believe this is real.”

Other friends sent well-wishes to his family. They identified Wyatt as his son.

“You were my support at work and a wonderful kind guy that would help anyone,” another friend wrote. “Love you and fly high my friend.”
