High school roundup: Late touchdown run lifts Stow to 13-10 win over Solon

Stow 13, Solon 10

Joe Gobble had a 5-yard touchdown run with 1:28 remaining in the game to give the visiting Bulldogs (3-0) the win over the Comets (2-1).

The Bulldogs trailed 10-7 at halftime and managed to score the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter after a scoreless third quarter.

Gobble rushed for a touchdown in the first quarter to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead before Andy Black’s 30-yard field goal in the first quarter brought the Comets within four points. The Comets took the lead in the second quarter on Tom Wilks’ 2-yard touchdown run.

Ellet 54, Field 12

Senior Marquise Bridges rushed for 329 yards and five touchdowns, and senior Matt Cody rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown to lead the host Orangemen (3-0) over the Falcons (2-1). Garrett Haverstick threw a touchdown pass for the Orangemen, and senior Dominic Smith rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons.

Tallmadge 42, Garfield 21

Ty Shannon rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns, and the host Blue Devils outscored the Golden Rams 21-14 in the second half to pull away for the win. Shannon also caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Sam Seeker and returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown for the Blue Devils (2-1). Greg Levy threw two touchdown passes, and Anthony Littlejohn rushed for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass for the Golden Rams (1-2).

Canton McKinley 51,
Hudson 24

The visiting Bulldogs (2-1) led by one point at halftime and outscored the Explorers 34-8 in the second half for the win. Dominique Robinson threw three touchdown passes to De’Shawn White and also rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs. Jackson Parker threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Explorers.

Senior Dillon Dingler and junior Jaret Pallotta each threw a touchdown pass for the visiting Polar Bears (3-0) in a win over the Spartans (2-1). Junior Joe Childers caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Dingler, and Dingler caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Pallotta to lead the Polar Bears.

North Canton Hoover 50,
East 20

Luke Reicosky rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns, and John Keller threw two touchdown passes for the host Vikings (3-0) in a win over the Dragons. Keller and Jackson Davis each rushed for a touchdown for the Vikings, and Ryan Collins threw a touchdown pass and rushed for a touchdown for the Dragons (1-2).

Chagrin Falls 6

King Alfred Sanders rushed for three touchdowns, and Mason Lydic completed 12-of-19 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown to lead the visiting Bulldogs (3-0) over the Tigers (0-3). Robert Singletary rushed for a touchdown, and Jacob Margroff caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Lydic for the Bulldogs.

Aurora 38,
Twinsburg 15

Chris Vanzo rushed for four touchdowns for the visiting Greenmen (2-1) in a win over the Tigers (0-3). Jalen Tucker threw a touchdown pass, and Jared Eaton had a 3-yard touchdown run for the Tigers.

Wooster 44,
Mount Vernon 8

Junior Trey Mathis rushed for 177 yards and a touchdown, and senior Peyton Bennington rushed for two touchdowns for the visiting Generals (3-0).

Garrettsville 50,
Champion 28

Dalton Fall threw for 278 yards and five touchdowns, and Anthony DeNigris caught two touchdown passes and rushed for another to lead the visiting G-men (3-0).

Canada Prep 27,
St. Vincent-St. Mary 7

Ryan Farris recovered a fumble and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown, but the host Fighting Irish (2-1) could only muster 66 total yards on offense in the loss.
