Akron firefighters rescued a man from a burning house on Marvin Avenue early Friday morning.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, suffered first- and second-degree burns. He was taken to a local hospital.

The extent of his injuries was not known.

Firefighters responded to 141 Marvin near Highland Square just after 6 a.m. and found heavy smoke at the three-bedroom house.

Two people were inside the house, but one was able to escape without assistance.

Lt. Leon Henderson of the Akron Fire Department said when firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the man on the second floor of the house, which was already engulfed in flames.

“It’s a miracle that they were able to rescue him out of that house,” Henderson said.

Two dogs were also in the house. It’s unknown what happened to the dogs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and further details were not immediately available.
