Stow police are asking for help in identifying a dump-truck driver involved in a hit-and-run caught on camera.

The police department posted a photo and video on its Facebook page on Sunday asking for the public’s help involving a hit-and-run accident on state Route 8 northbound near Steels Corners Road on Aug. 30.

In the video, a car is traveling in the right-hand lane when it bumps into a dump truck also traveling northbound. The car then gets hit and careens in front of the dump truck, spinning and hitting the center concrete median.

There were minor injuries to the passengers in the vehicle, Stow police officer Ted Bell said Tuesday morning.

Bell said from the video, it appears the dump truck was attempting a slow merge from the center lane into the right lane because it can be seen in the right lane further down the highway.

On the Facebook post, the police said: “There are several other cars around during this accident so we know someone out there saw it and may be able to provide us with some helpful information. (Dump Truck is on the lower, left side of the picture next to the red car). Thank you!”

Anyone with information is asked to call Bell at 330-689-5700.
