Get spooked watching ‘Carrie’

The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque concludes its series of films by Brian DePalma with an 8:40 p.m. showing of Carrie, the adaptation of the Stephen King novel about a telekinetic teenager, played by Sissy Spacek, and prom night that goes very, very wrong. Tickets are $7-$10 at www.cia.edu/cinematheque.

Go back to the ’80s at Blossom

Break out the parachute pants and brush up your mullet for kind of an odd grouping of ’80s bands at Blossom at 7 p.m. Def Leppard and Tesla on the same bill, sure. But REO “Can’t Fight This Feeling” Speedwagon too? Like, whatever, as we used to say back then. Tickets are $25-$99 at 330-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com.

See Don Plusquellic in Kenmore

Former Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic comes home to Kenmore. He’ll appear at the Kenmore Historical Society meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 969 Kenmore Blvd., along with Steve Love, who wrote the new book The Indomitable Don Plusquellic: How a Controversial Mayor Quarterbacked Akron’s Comeback.
