Police arrested a Barberton man on charges that he robbed stores in two Summit County cities within an hour Tuesday morning.

Ozzie M. Wright, also known as Ozzie Mann Jr., was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery. The charges are first-degree felonies punishable by up to 11 years in prison if he’s convicted.

According to police, Wright, 34, went to Lo-Boy Gas Co., 134 E. Tuscarawas Ave. in Barberton, at about 6:30 a.m. A clerk said Wright pointed a gun and demanded money.

He fled with more than $200 and packs of cigarettes, they said.

About a half-hour later, a similar robbery occurred at Jubilee Donuts at 4081 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road in Norton. Police believed the same person was responsible for both crimes.

The two stores are about a 10-minute drive from each other.

After reviewing surveillance footage, a Barberton police officer recognized the suspect as Wright — a man the officer had seen recently in parolee briefings. Wright was previously convicted of robbery.

Wright was arrested at his home at about 2:30 p.m.
