KENT: Riverside Wine & Bar at 911 N. Mantua St., whose large deck on the Cuyahoga River draws crowds in the warmer weather, is closed following an electrical fire Thursday morning.

Owners Robert and Monica Morson said in a mass email, sent Thursday afternoon, that Riverside would be “closed until further notice.”

Robert Morson was there when the fire broke out. “He is fine and there were no injuries, just a lot of damage,” the email said.

“We will be back in touch soon,” they said.

Telephone calls to Riverside went to a voice mailbox, which didn’t accept messages.

The Kent Ravenna Record Courier newspaper reported on its website that Kent and Ravenna fire departments responded to a fire at Riverside Wine Thursday.

Repairmen from Ohio Edison reportedly were inside the business when the fire broke out, according to the posting on the website.
