Akron police are investigating two shootings that occurred early Sunday morning. Officers responded to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center to talk to the first shooting victim, a 25- year old man who went to emergency with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Police have not confirmed the location of the shooting.
The second shooting occurred in the 300 block of East South Street, outside the Platinum Bar. The victim, a 38-year-old man, was shot several times. According to the police report, the victim was found by two of his friends who took him to Summa Akron City Hospital. The victim is in serious condition.
Police say they do not believe the incidents are connected. No suspects have been identified in either shooting. Both remain under investigation.
Police are still investigating Thursday night’s quadruple shooting at Lane Field where four people were shot during a vigil for another shooting victim.
That shooting claimed the life of 22-year-old Eric Gaiter of Fishcreek Road in Stow.
A second man, who is 20, remains hospitalized at Akron General and is in serious condition. Two others, a 28 year old woman and a 30 year old woman were shot in the leg at the vigil. They have been released from the hospital.
