Summit County Sheriff’s detectives hope the public will help them identify two male suspects who were caught on surveillance cameras attempting to burn down Coventry Middle School last month.
The suspects, who appear to be teenagers or young adults, stole fire extinguishers from the bus garage between 11 p.m. and midnight and used them to blast security cameras and doors of the school, located at 3257 Cormany Road.
Detectives reported the pair went to the back of the building and attempted to ignite a fire by igniting construction tar after tossing it at the wall. The fire did not ignite the building, but it did cost the building $2,000 worth of damage to the building and door-locking system.
Both suspects were white. One wore red high-top shoes with dark shorts and a gray t-shirt. He had black hair and a black chinstrap-style beard. The other wore blue gym shorts, a gray shirt and a tan backpack. He appeared to have brown hair.
