Akron police and paramedics responded to at least 15 calls on Tuesday for suspected heroin overdoses, according to Beacon Journal news partner newsnet5.com.
The calls began about 1 p.m. and continued until at least 10:30 p.m. in several locations throughout the city, including Copley Road, Mogadore Road, Chippewa Avenue, Romig Road and Nesmith Lake Boulevard. Multiple patients were found at some locations and taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Summa Akron City Hospital for treatment.
One overdose was fatal, taking the life of a 44-year-old man.
