CUYAHOGA FALLS: The winner of the city’s logo contest is Clare Willett of Woodridge High School, Mayor Don Walters announced during the Riverfront Concert Series Friday night.
Willett and four other students were guided by professional branding experts in designing several alternatives for a new city logo.
A committee narrowed their eight designs down to three, and residents were asked to vote on their favorite.
More than 1,700 ballots were cast, with Willett’s circular design coming out on top. Hers was No. 3 on the online ballot and featured the city’s downtown clock tower, swirls of water to depict the Cuyahoga River, the Blossom Music Center pavilion, and a tree to represent the local parks.
The other students participating in the effort were Woodridge’s Amanda Dunn and Cuyahoga Falls High School students Tommy Hillyer, Ian Hose, and Jake Spinner.
Walters launched the search for a new logo in the spring, saying Cuyahoga Falls needed a new symbol to reflect a 21st century culture that emphasizes nature, neighborhoods and amenities.
While the old city seal will still be used on some official documents, Walters said he has big plans for spotlighting the new logo on everything from letterheads and business cards to promotional items like T-shirts and ballcaps.
