A Summit County grand jury indicted a Hudson youth gymnastics coach Friday on three felony counts of gross sexual imposition involving inappropriate contact with a 10-year-old girl, authorities said.
Derek J. Waskowski, 28, of Samira Road, Stow, worked as a coach at Hudson’s Little Leapers gymnastics school in the 1700 block of Georgetown Road, and allegedly had abusive contact with the girl while she was taking lessons there, prosecutors said.
Waskowski is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Dec. 11 in Summit County Common Pleas Court.
According to a Hudson police report, the allegations of gross sexual imposition were referred to the department in late August by a Summit County Children Services caseworker.
Hudson detectives began an investigation and arrested Waskowski on Oct. 15. A police report contained no other details about the allegations.
City spokeswoman Jody Roberts said that the Little Leapers gymnastics school has been in operation in Hudson for a number of years and that she was not aware of any other incidents there.
According to details in the indictment, the incidents allegedly occurred Feb. 4.
Each of the three charges is a third-degree felony carrying potential penalties of nine months to three years in prison.
Waskowski’s attorney, Hank F. Meyer, did not immediately return phone messages for comment.
