RAVENNA: One motorist is dead and three others severely injured after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of state routes 5 and 59, just east of Ravenna city limits, at 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

The Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Carly M. Desenburg, 27, of Southington, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Portage County Coroner.

She had two passengers in her 2010 Hyundai Accent who were injured: Levi Holmes, 26, of Brookfield, was transported to Akron City Hospital by the Rootstown Fire Department; Zachary Placer, 22, of Hubbard, was transported by Metro Life Flight to Akron City.

Also seriously injured was Jeannette Charlton, 57, of Norton, who was transferred to University Hospitals Portage County Medical Center. Charlton was driving a 2000 Honda Odyssey mini-van.

The patrol said Desenburg was traveling east on Route 59 when it failed to stop for a stop sign, striking Charlton’s car, which was traveling southwest on Route 5.

Desenburg’s car then left the road and struck a pole.

Everyone with the exception of Placer, a rear seat passenger, was wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.
