One man was killed and three people were injured, two critically, early Wednesday in a one-car accident on Interstate 77 in Coventry Township, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The victim is a 74-year-old man from Elyria. His name has not been released.
The accident occurred about 1:45 a.m. on northbound I-77 near Swartz Road.
The vehicle, a Toyota Rav4, went off the right side of the road and struck an overpass bridge, authorities said.
The victim was a passenger in the vehicle, authorities said.
The three injured people were taken to Akron area hospitals.
Two were listed as being in critical condition. The injuries to the third were not life-threatening.
The accident remains under investigation.
