A West Akron man was arrested Wednesday night on charges that he shot and killed a 24-year-old man on Edmeyer Court.
Christopher M. Hunter, 27, is charged with aggravated murder, felonious assault and receiving stolen property.
According to police, Hunter shot 24-year-old Marlon Gibson in the torso multiple times shortly after 11 p.m. in the 1000 block of Edmeyer Court, in the area of South Arlington Street and East Waterloo Road. Hunter and Gibson allegedly were arguing over a woman who was the mother of children fathered by each man. Gibson died at an area hospital, where he had been transported.
Police stopped a 2010 Chevy Equinox leaving the area of the shooting and arrested the driver, identified as Hunter. A 9 mm pistol that had been reported stolen was found inside Hunter’s vehicle, according to police.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy Thursday and ruled the case a homicide.
