Akron will be getting a new-concept grocery store: 365 by Whole Foods Market.

That announcement came early Thursday from the city of Akron.

The store will open in spring 2017 in West Akron at what is now called the West Market Street Station (formerly the West Point Market).

The new store will provide simple, affordable and convenient everyday shopping without sacrificing the Whole Foods Market standards and quality, the parties said in a press release.

“365 by Whole Foods is a great addition to the Akron market and it is exciting for us to be one of the first cities to have this grocery store option,” said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan in the statement.

The first 365 by Whole Foods will open on May 25 in Silver Lake, Calif.

Ten more are planned over the next near in Ohio, Oregon, Washington, California, Illinois and Florida.

The Akron site is being developed by S.J. Collins Enterprises and will include 50,000 square feet of commercial space.
