A 6-year-old Tallmadge boy suffered critical injuries Monday night in a car-bike accident in West Akron, Akron police reported.
The boy, who was riding his bike, was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital.
The accident occurred about 7:50 p.m. at Lucy Street at Duane Avenue.
The boy was traveling north on Lucy Street when he went through the stop sign at Duane Avenue, police said.
He was struck by an eastbound Ford Contour driven by a 24-year-old Akron woman.
The driver was not at fault and will not be cited for the accident, police said. She was cited for driving on a suspended license. Her vehicle was towed as part of the investigation.
Due to the serious nature of the accident, the Akron Police Department Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
