Kent police have arrested a man suspected of involvement in the death of a Rootstown Township man whose body was discovered with a bullet wound to the head after a fire consumed his home last week.
During a traffic stop on Friday, Jabari D. McKee, 27, was found driving a stolen 2001 Ford Mustang belonging to Bryan Burns, 41, the man who died, according to authorities.
McKee was charged with receiving stolen property. Police also discovered a warrant against him for robbery out of Summit County.
Asked if McKee is suspected of killing Burns, Portage County Sheriff’s Lt. Gregory Johnson said, “He’s a person of interest.”
McKee entered a plea of not guilty on Monday morning and his bond was set at $250,000. He remains in the Portage County Jail awaiting further hearings.
