The Ohio High School Athletic Association acknowledged Monday that it is investigating Archbishop Hoban High School for unspecified reasons.
Tim Stried, the director of information services for the OHSAA, said Monday via email that the state’s high school athletic governing body has “an ongoing investigation at Hoban.” He said he could not “specify which sport” was being investigated.
Hoban Athletic Director Joe Beyer said Monday by telephone that he and other representatives from the school met with the OHSAA in December.
“Anytime there’s rumors surrounding a school, the OHSAA will investigate,” Beyer said.
Beyer said he has not been in contact with anyone from the OHSAA since the meeting, and would not specify which Knights athletic team was being investigated.
“We have always followed the OHSAA rules and always will,” Beyer said. “We are cooperating with the OHSAA and look forward to a resolution.”
