Auerbach, band “horrified” by Paris attacks, “stunned” by what they saw there

Black Keys co-founder Dan Auerbach and his band the Arcs were still absorbing the horrors of the Paris attacks Saturday, and noting similarities to the venue they played the night before and the one where the most damage was done.

The Arcs played at Le Trianon, while one of the six attacks in Paris was at the Bataclan concert hall, where the band Eagles of Death Metal were performing.

“Same size venues. Both sold out. Both of us American bands,” the Arcs posted on Instagram. “Just one mile apart from each other.”

“Today has been very hard for us to comprehend,” the post continued. “We left the venue last night stunned, surrounded by police sirens and helicopters as we hastily boarded the bus to leave Paris as quickly as we possibly could.

“We’ve made it to Milan safely now ... feeling unbelievably thankful,” it said. “Some of our friends were not so lucky last night ... people we’ve worked with for years. We’re thinking of them now and the music lovers who lost their lives last night. We are shaken and horrified but thankful.

“Our hearts go out to the people of France.”
