Cedar Point is removing three attractions from its line-up for the 2016 season.

The park confirmed Saturday that the Shoot the Rapids water ride is being torn down.

The $10.5 million ride located along the park’s Frontier Trail opened in 2010.

Aside from so-so reviews from guests, the attraction has had a checkered past.

Several guests were injured on the attraction in 2013 when one of its boats traveled backward down a lift hill and struck another boat and flipped over.

The park said the ride that takes passengers through a Wild West themed series of splashes and twists and turns is being removed because of low ridership numbers.

Two attractions at Cedar Point’s Challenger Park area are also being removed.

The Skyscraper catapult and Challenge Racing go-carts attractions also will not reopen this summer and are being dismantled.

Park spokesman Tony Clark said the decision to remove the three attractions was based on feedback from park guests.

“No future plans for these areas have been announced,” Clark said.

The announcements were made during the park’s Winter Chill Out event that gives amusement park enthusiasts a behind-the-scenes tour.

The event raised $40,000 for A Kid Again charity that assists families with children who have life-threatening illnesses.

Cedar Point also announced that it will offer so-called Sunrise Thrills Tours that will allow guests to experience what goes into “waking up” the park’s roller coasters.

“The highlighted attraction is the new Valravn dive coaster, where guests can learn more about ride safety, technical operations, start-up procedures and the ride’s unique passenger vehicles,” Clark said. “The highlight of the tour will be a climb to the top of Valravn’s 223-foot-tall hill for a breathtaking, panoramic view of Cedar Point and some once-in-a-lifetime selfies.”

The park is also starting a Ride Warriors Club, whose members will get exclusive park access and benefits.

Members will get private ride time on popular rides throughout the season, access to invitation-only events, photo and video opportunities along with private question and answer sessions with park management.

With the departure of Chick-fil-A, the park is opening the Frontier Inn near the Maverick roller coaster.

The eatery will serve fresh-breaded crispy buttermilk chicken tenders, buffalo chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, chicken salads, crispy fries and tater tots.

A Coca-Cola oasis will be featured near the main entrance that will offer Coca-Cola Freestyle beverages.

The park also announced new cars are being installed on the Dodgem bumper car ride.

Crews are also repainting the Raptor and Top Thrill Dragster roller coasters.

Work continues on the park’s newest thrill machine, the record-shattering Valravn roller coaster billed as the world’s tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster.
